The Council is looking to recruit and train Electoral Registration Canvassers to work during October and November.
Every year the law requires residents to register every year and at the end of August, the Council’s Electoral Services Team posts an Electoral Registration form to 48,000 households in Test Valley. Last year, almost half of these required an additional reminder and 10,000 required a personal canvass visit for forms that had not been submitted by 15 October.
The main role of a canvasser is to visit the properties that haven't responded and help to collect and complete registration forms. Canvassers can also help to advise electors on the completion of the form. All training will be provided and canvassers are free to choose their own working hours, however past experience has shown that the best times are evenings and weekends, meaning it can fit in with other commitments.
Canvassers will be paid a fee per completed form returned:
£1.50 per form in urban areas
£2.00 per form in rural areas
